Slapstick prevails when French filmmaker and star Jacques Tati’s eccentric, old-fashioned hero, Mr. Hulot, is set loose in Villa Arpel, a geometric, ultra-modern home. “Mon Oncle” is an amusing satire of mechanized living and consumer society that won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film and New York Film Critics Award for Best Foreign Language Film.
