Discover the Creative World of Carl Abbott FAIA

Join SAF for a captivating evening with Carl Abbott, as the highly awarded Florida architect reveals connections between his work and his many years studying the ancient and modern masters. Abbott is strongly influenced by his experiences with the exotic and sophisticated architecture of ancient civilizations, and the manner in which their buildings respond to the land and the movement of the sun. Carl will share images, stories and insights from his recent trips to Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, and Angkor Wat, and discuss the importance of looking to the past in order to inform what we build today.

"Carl has a boundless enthusiasm to share his passion for architecture." — Lord Norman Foster

"Carl's talk was spellbinding…his images tied the bold simplicity of his architecture to the strong statements of the Maya." — Ken Miller, architect

A reception, book sale and signing of Carl Abbott's "In/Formed by the Land" immediately follows tonight's lecture.
