Architecture & Aperitifs IV: The Cichon/Mitchell House.

American Legacy

At the Sarasota Architectural Foundation, we invite you to our fourth Architecture and Aperitifs social event in one of Sarasota’s modern icons.   On January 15th from 5:30 to 7:00, we will gather for wine and chats in a 1961 residence designed by Seibert Architects and located at 474 Magellan Drive.  The house backs to the Sara Bay Golf and Country Club in the Whitfield Area.

The house has been exquisitely renovated by Michael Cichon, the current owner.  Built of exposed concrete blocks and timber beams, the residence boasts modern furnishings and an internal planted courtyard enclosed with redwood screens.  In 1961, the house was recognized as one of twenty contemporary designs in the United States.  In 2006, the residence was featured in a sixteen page spread in Andrew Weaving’s book ‘Sarasota Modern’.   The same year, Seibert Architects won Test of Time award for the house from AIA Florida for their restoration efforts.

Admission is $10 for members, $15 for non-members, and free for those who sign up as members on the day of the event.  Payment will be collected at the door in the form of cash or checks.  Please RSVP to help us estimate participation.
